About the Event

Leslie Robinson knows Hoarding Disorder (HD) from both sides. Diagnosed with HD many years ago, she now owns Seattle Hoarding Help, where she guides others through the physically and emotionally demanding process of decluttering. In this talk, Leslie will explain what Hoarding Disorder is—and what it isn’t—while dispelling common myths and stereotypes.

She’ll explore how HD affects people of all ages but can be especially challenging for senior citizens, who may face mobility limitations, health risks from cluttered or unsafe living spaces, social isolation, and the emotional weight of a lifetime of possessions. Leslie will discuss what actually goes on inside the mind of someone living with this condition, why “just getting rid of things” isn’t a simple solution, and how shame and fear often keep people from seeking help.
