A History of 1979, A Turning Point Year
with Jerry Neufeld-Kaiser
Class Description
1979 was a year with a lot going on in world politics. The Iranian revolution. Margaret Thatcher's takeover. The Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. The Sandinistas gained control in Nicaragua. Deng Xiao Ping opened up China after the isolation of the Mao years. And more. We'll learn about these significant changes in world historical politics. We lived through these changes, and it'll be interesting to look back on them as historians. And we'll ask and revisit the question "To what extent was 1979 a turning point?" In Person: Youth Room Mondays & Wednesdays, 12:00 - 2:00, July 7, 9 14, 16, 21 & 23 Class Limit: 30
