American Art and Architecture

Class Description

Have you viewed American Art in the Met, MoMA, and the National Gallery, DC? Join us to tour the treasures of East Coast and West Coast museums, including the Smithsonian, the Art Institute of Chicago and many little-known “boutique” collections. This class will provide an overview of major and minor American art movements, the landscape designs of Olmsted, and the National Museum of Women in the Arts. We will also journey through collections and buildings in the Berkshires, Boston, Los Angeles, the University of Washington, and many other artistic centers “off the beaten path.” Lecture handouts will be provided. Class will be via Zoom with time for discussion. Mark is a retired college Art History instructor who has traveled extensively in the USA. ZOOM Wednesdays: 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm Class Limit: 25
