Chinese Mah-jongg
with Janet C. Morgan
Class Description
The class will begin with an introduction to Mah Jongg, which is a tile-based game played by four individuals. The 144 tiles consist of three suits (dots, bamboo, and characters), Winds, Dragons, and Flowers (consisting of seasons and flowers). We will discuss the history and other interesting facts about Mah Jongg. Various forms of Mah Jongg exist. This summer class will only cover Chinese Mah Jongg. I learned to play Mah Jongg in the mid-1990s and since then I have been teaching it both informally to friends, and formally at LLC. Studies have shown positive outcomes for participants in this game. These outcomes include cognitive, social, and emotional benefits. For questions, please contact the instructor Janet Morgan at jcolliermorgan@hotmail.com. Mondays. 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm In person: B5 Class limit: 12
