Class Description

The Adventures of Simplicius Simplicissimus by Christoffel von Grimmelshausen A naive farm boy misunderstands the historic events of the 30 Years War (1618-1648). This famous German novel turns Simplicius’ observations of soldiers, cruelty, vice, witchcraft, social status and religion into thrilling and satirical reading. In the end, Simplicius finds refuge in spiritual values. The class will read and discuss parts 1-5 in weekly installments, about 60 pages. Any translation will work: free downloads and hard copies are easily available. *Need a minimum of 5 students to hold class. In Person: B4 Mondays, 11:00 - 12:30 Class Limit: 10
