Class Description

The end of the war brought chaos and confusion to the defeated German nation. The Third Reich had collapsed, and the invading 4 Power Allies began to spread their foreign political philosophies of Western Democracy and Soviet style Socialism in a country that was disoriented by change. Class discussion will focus on the immediate problems: Loss of land to Russia and Poland, refugees, homelessness, lack of food and fuel, unemployment, occupation status, Denazification and reeducation, and more. Christiane, a longtime LLC student, is a bombing refugee from Berlin who grew up in British occupied northern Germany. In Person: B4 Wednesdays, 11:00 - 12:30 Class Limit: 15
