The Worlds of Ursula Le Guin
with Lynne Magie
Le Guin is best known as a writer of science fiction and fantasy, but she is much more than that: poet, essayist, realist, writer of children's books, historical novelist, and one of the great American writers of the last hundred years. This class will focus on her shorter works (so we can explore more) and maybe one of her novels—I hope not one you’ve already read. Before the first class meeting, please get a copy of The Unreal and the Real: Selected Short Stories of Ursula K. Le Guin, and read two stories: “The Rule of Names” and “Ether, OR.” The book is available both new and used, at local libraries, and as a Kindle e-book. If you want a used copy, try Alibris.com or AbeBooks.com, or your favorite local store. ZOOM Wednesdays: 11:00am - 12:30pm Class Limit: 25
