They Wrote it for Themselves

with Chuck Roxin

Class Description

Many composers wrote much of their best music for themselves, family, and friends. Bach never intended that his Art of the Fugue, the Musical Offering or his sonatas for unaccompanied violin and cello be performed in concert. Beethoven didn't want his late quartets performed in public! Liszt's late piano music was not written for performance, and rarely is today. And of course, Bartok's Mikrocosmos was written for his students. Come and enjoy! Tuesdays, 1:00 – 2:30 In Person: Room B2 Class Limit: 30
