Ukraine: The Forging of a People, S1
with Marianne LoGerfo
Class Description
Occupied, partitioned and often expunged out of existence as a separate nation, Ukraine has been held captive by Turks, Poles, Lithuanians, Austrians, Germans, and Russians. All the while, the Ukrainians have absorbed and accommodated, rebelled and fought-- as they fight for freedom once more. In fall quarter we'll meet the Slavs and Vikings, Mongols and Tatars, Cossacks and Jews, peasants and tsars who make this story so rich and fascinating. Our course book will include a history text complete with maps and timelines, taking us up to 1800, as well as a selection of wonderful tales. In winter we'll cover 1800 to 1939, and in spring from 1939 to the present. Our class is also offered on zoom on Thursdays, 10:30 to noon. Course books will be available for $15.00 in the Lifetime Learning Center parking lot from 10:30 to noon on Thursday, September 26, and at the LLC from the 30th on. Please email me at logerfoj@comcast.net if you need to have a mailed copy ($20.00). In Person: Youth Room Tuesdays, 11:00 – 12:30 Class Limit: 45
