Why We Eat What We Eat: The Cultural and Societal Determinants of Food Customs around the World This will be a survey of the development of food customs around the world. It will include discussions of evolution and geographic differences. Since humankind looked at a mammoth and said “I'm hungry,” how did we get to the many and diverse substances used as food and how did some get designated desirable, disgusting, or forbidden?
