About the Event
Have you heard of NEST? North East Seattle Together (NEST) is a local grassroots nonprofit located in Wedgwood, and also focuses on connecting older adults with opportunities for learning, engagement, and fun. Join Emily Jones, NEST Executive Director, to learn how NEST is building a northeast Seattle community where neighbors engage with and support one another in the transitions of aging through membership, volunteering, and an array of programs and events. Â NEST is a neighbor of LLC and many LLC students volunteer or participate in programs at NEST.
Emily received her Master’s in Library and Information Science from the University of Washington and worked in libraries for over a decade. After her time as the assistant director of the Washington Library Association, she joined the association management department at the Washington State Medical Association and served as the executive director of five medical specialty societies. However, her first love of building communities and connecting people with resources (and with each other!) was strong. She joined NEST in November 2021 and is excited by what can be accomplished when her passion dovetails with her work.
