Teaching English In Russia 2003

My Russian parents would have been amazed and impressed. I was sent under the auspices of Educational Services International to Lodeynoye Pole, small unknown town of 20,000, 152 miles from St. Petersburg. It was far enough north that it was never completely dark! We were a team of four: me (at the age of 70!), one young man and two young ladies, with breakfast and lunch provided daily. We taught conversational english to approximately twenty four students, mostly high school age. We also taught about customs and the true meaning of Easter and Christmas. I talked my way for the four of us to get in free to the Hermitage, quite a feat.

Internet messages were sent home keeping friends and family up to date and entertained. "Smile if you love me!"  More to tell!
