About the Event
Trekking in Nepal epitomizes adventure. This landlocked country packs amazing diversity into an area the size of Arkansas. Hindu and Buddhist cultures thrive from near sea level up to the breathtaking slopes of the world’s highest mountains. Most delightful is the uncrowded 10- to 14-day Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, a tea house journey through lovely villages, rice terraces, lush rhododendron forests, and incredibly deep gorges, culminating in a lodge at Annapurna South Base Camp (13,550 feet elevation) — encircled by astounding peaks such as Fang and sacred Machhapuchhre. Trekking the Mount Everest area is tougher, higher “Type 2 Fun,” as in the High Passes Lodge Trek to Chhukhung, Gorak Shep, Everest Base Camp, Gokyo, and Thame. This show includes adventures from spring 1981, fall 2007, and fall 2021 by Tom Dempsey and his sister-in-law Rebecca Douglass.
