Class Description

In addition to the Ming and Qing dynasties, we’ll look at the turmoil of the post-dynastic period, including Japan’s attacks on China, the civil war between the Nationalists and communists, and life during Mao’s “dynasty” up to the end of the Cultural Revolution. Although this is a continuation of my fall course, it stands on its own, and you will not be disadvantaged by not having taken the previous class. As with the fall, this course is being offered in parallel with Marianne LoGerfo’s course. There’s much to learn in Marianne’s class that I won’t be covering. Unlike in the fall, this will be a discussion class. The course packet will be available for $20 in a trunk sale on Friday, January 2, from 10:30-noon in the LLC parking lot.
