Finding Meaning in Visual Art
With Paul Kidder
Class Description
aintings and sculptures may strike us as beautiful, interesting, or curious, but they offer more to us when we can find in them deep sources of human meaning. Each week in this course we will discuss examples from the history of art, looking for narrative meaning, meaning suggested by the forms in the work, and meaning deriving from the context of the work’s creation. By recognizing the different ways that art makes meaning we can discover beautiful and challenging truths. Tuesdays, 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm In Person: B2 Class Limit: 20
