Introduction to the Feldenkrais® Method

With Gail Thompson

Class Description

The Feldenkrais Method uses neuroplasticity, the brain’s curiosity-based ability to change and improve itself and our body’s behavior. We seek more efficient function and comfort in our movements. This course will include eight weekly Awareness Through Movement lessons to showcase some basic aspects of the Method, following themes such as improving balance, addressing discomfort of backs, hips, shoulders, and so on. Student benefits may include increased balance and lessened chronic pain. Join us online or in person for small, slow, movement variations that communicate with the brain. Please note that these lessons promote flexibility; they are not exercises of aerobics or strength. No experience needed. Lessons may be done lying on a mat on the floor or seated in a flat-bottomed chair. Wear comfortable, layered clothing All participants will be asked to agree to a liability release form. *PLEASE NOTE: Gail is teaching on Zoom and in person at the same time. Please sign up for one format or the other, knowing that you can switch between them anytime during the term.
